When you dig into some MPs' educational backgrounds, it's clearly impossible that they're really as dim as they seem.

And that's when things get really scary, because by implication they are capable of understanding the real Brexit situation, yet choose to wreck the UK anyway.
Of course, intelligence has never been the same as wisdom, nor is an "elite" university background an indication of character, and certainly not of merit. But it does show they were capable - once.
Now, I know this tees up the temptation for a slew of "dumb MP" jokes, but I meant my point seriously. You don't get to Cambridge or Oxford or Harvard or the Sorbonne by being thick.

(Again, I stress that this isn't meant as a gauge of their value or worth as MPs, in any way!)

1/ Trying to follow what's going on in 🇪🇺 & #Brexit news feels like a full time job. And yet even against that backdrop, today feels pretty extraordinary. Some of the news has particular impact on me personally.
2/ First of all, this morning the proposed legal text on Brexit transition was released. So much for things not changing in transition - the text as it currently stands means 🇬🇧 👨‍💻 living in 🇪🇺 can no longer vote in the 2019 EP elections.
3/ A pretty major change, right from March 2019. 💥 goes my chance to vote for @janalbrecht @terryreintke et al as I did in 2014. 😡

We know that Tory plans to take us out of the single market and customs union would cost hundreds of thousands of UK jobs, and damage people’s incomes, living standards, and livelihoods for decades to come.
In Scotland alone a hard Brexit could cost in the region of 80,000 jobs and £2,000 a head - with a big hit to the Scottish economy: theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/o…
