Imagine the kind of power in Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders making a joint announcement that despite their differences in policy, they want to work together and ensure the next White House reflects the experiences of women, folks of color, queer folks, etc.
Imagine if Biden and Sanders said they’ll be taking a step back from 2020 and allying to ensure the next president is someone who knows the challenges of communities most impacted by Trump and Pence.
Imagine Biden and Sanders throwing their full weight into the idea that the time has come to put aside their own personal ambitions and rally in support of a new era in American politics by electing someone visibly in contradiction of the vile white supremacist patriarchy.
That’s what I would love to see. Uniting the party behind the idea that continuing to cynically pander to the so-called “Heartland” by offering them a non-threatening white male who talks in broad economic speak actually *hurts* both our electoral chances and moral evolution.
