Commonalities between yesterday's Brady amendment vote and the Brexit referendum:
- Very narrow margin
- Based on false promises of something undeliverable
- Many of those voting didn't appear to understand what they were voting for
- Others were just desperate for change
- Brought together very strange bedfellows
- Was portrayed as an overwhelming victory by much of the media
- Baffled people in the EU, and watching further afield
- Hurt the pound
- Unsettled businesses
- Didn't actually resolve anything
Meanwhile, as Theresa May builds glass houses then gets her loyal troops to kick balls through them, here's the damage Brexit is already wreaking (you can expect the pace to pick up after last night's fiasco):
