When people say that they don't think gender should be a factor in determining our presidential candidates,I think,"Nice thought. But the majority population a.) has been excluded from leading the country since its inception & b.)there are plenty of women better than all the men.
In other words, it's high time a woman was our president, and I actively want to prioritize electing a woman in 2020--because a.) there are spectacular women candidates, b.) it's the 100th anniversary of women getting the right to vote and c.) Trump should be beaten by a woman.
While we're considering this, let's look at the facts. Trump is a horrible misogynist, a serial sex abuser, and the degree to which he has alienated women was central to his party's crushing defeat in the 2018 election. Next, in 2016, a woman got 3 million more votes than him.
Now, every day, the woman who is Speaker of the House is proving to be the most effective and inspiring opponent he has had to date. Justice says pick a woman as the Democratic presidential nominee...but so pragmatism and a desire to win says the same thing.
In fact, I'll let you in on a little secret...in my view, the only thing better than running a ticket with a woman on it would be running a ticket with two women on it. That would be brutal for Trump and, given the caliber of potential Dem women candidates, great for the US.
So let's stop with the sexism veiled as "fairness" & recognize that by every single criteria from weighing the individual merits of the candidates to the needs of the party to the needs of the country to the demands of history, 2020 should be the year we elect a woman president.
