1/ If you're going to argue that we can't get rid of the filibuster so we can protect the interests of the minority in a legislative body where EVERY STATE ALREADY HAS THE SAME REPRESENTATION REGARDLESS OF POPULATION, you are going to get the fucking side-eye.

1/ one of the main reasons I stayed a US television writer is that when I went back to Canada, with 70-something produced episodes under my belt, with a pitch starring a Canadian comic & with US guest star for financing, the CBC looked at me like I'd broken into their kitchen.
2/ Its no coincidence that both LETTERKENNEY and TRAILER PARK BOYS were made well outside of the establishment, and both are Canadian as hell.
3/ I'm a Canadian citizen and I value Canada's culture and politics as, to some degree, my ideal. And the plural of anecdote is not data. But man, centrally planning culture is not optimal.

2/ all it took was convincing the son of the guy they put in a coma that the Chinese government were the ones who put him in a coma because after all they just tried to shoot up the OTHER major shareholder up on the 100 story balcony restaurant ...
3/ ... which was prevented by the Slide jumping OFF the balcony with the Mark so the Rigger could blow out her 85th story window and catch them with her wildly illegal gravity gun while the Hitter and their Ellen-Page-as-Javert Inspector did a team-up to fend off the gunmen ...

The downside of having a bunch of crime writers and lawyers in the BLADES OF DARK MARS game is that the one-night corporate stock control con has turned into a multi-faction conspiracy with multiple possible controlling interest outcomes and a cold case murder to solve.
ME: "Look, all you have to do is get somebody to give up 10% of their stock."
PLAYERS: "After we solve the murder and revitalize the CEO's singing career we'll frame the corporate spy for the hostile takeover attempt and steal the bribe money the Chinese gave him --"
Don't even get me started on one of the PC's paying off their Vice/Stress relief hobby of "Dance School" by joining the interpretive dance troupe performing at the corporate retreat under the tutelage of a WHIPLASH JK Simmons-style mentor. These people.

2. Mr. Jaideep Gupta, counsel for the state govt of Kerala, opposed the submission of additional documents on the ground that new material is being placed on record in intervention applications which are yet to be allowed
3. Justice Indu Malhotra observed that given the nature of the proceedings and the manifest public interest involved, the court would hear all parties before taking a call on the relevance of the information.

Tory pro-remain rebels have been plotting to scupper government timetable - and forcing meaningful vote for *THIS THURSDAY*

One minister last night gave it 50/50 chance of success

BUT

Appears to have been scuppered by the government business motion which can't be amended
Remain rebels were going to argue that the business motion being put by government was similar to previous one - therefore you could say 3 of the 5 days of debate had already taken place

... meaning it would happen on Thursday night
Labour would have joined in this effort

Some in government wanted it to come foreward too

But apparently this programme motion is unamendable, sources say.

Going through the 1MDB report now, this is a thread to help those whose BM is rusty/can't read BM. Won't direct translate everything, will summarise mostly. Link to original piece here:

The report is classed an 'executive summary' - pretty much a TLDR. Guess there must be a more detailed report elsewhere with all the numbers detailed.
Background: JAN (the national audit dept) was asked to verify 1MDB's accounts & to give PAC a report.
27/2/2015: PAC directed JAN to do an audit on 1MDB, which commenced 10/3/2015 & continued till 15/6/2015. This was an interim audit, the report presented to PAC on 9-10 July 2015.
