The underrated reason to oppose Booker's nomination is that he was a football player for Stanford and I really hate Stanford football and especially their stupid band.
I was at the Stanford-Oregon game when the band came up to Eugene and had a whole halftime routine making fun of working-class Oregonians losing their jobs in the timber industry. It was something of a radicalizing experience against rich elites, which I still pretty much hold.
This would have been in around 1989 or 1990. I was a teenager. Even today, I take pride in my public school degrees and am glad I have never been associated with an elite school at any level.
And lest anyone say this is kind of silly thing to base my life on, let's just say I have lot of chips on my shoulders and that's pretty much what drives me.
