Love sitting down to my subscriber's post for @tressiemcphd's First and 15th. You don't know what you're missing out on. Today's take on prestige in academia is typically brilliant, & her description of her time on The Daily Show brought a tear to my eye. thefirstand15th.substack.com
I may print this nugget out from @tressiemcphd's thefirstand15th.substack.com and affix it to my wall. Or tattoo it on my forehead in reverse so I can read it when I look into the mirror. 
Because I've had books making their way into the world lately, I can feel myself craving attention, craving recognition as a proxy for "respect" I thought was attached to the status I never achieved in academia ("professor"). But @tressiemcphd reminds me it's about the work.
The only thing that matters is getting up in the morning and looking forward to what I have to do. Gotta keep telling myself that. It's easy to forget.
