I wanted to write a piece about why I believe the alliance between the US, Israel and Arab states like Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE is both important and in very healthy shape thanks to Donald Trump. Thread below.

Here’s the setup. If you’ve been following me here for the last couple of years, it shouldn’t be new. But it’s a real dynamic of world-historical importance, as they say.
As many of us conservatives predicted, real long term peace doesn’t come from concessions or agreements or magic conjured by diplomats; it’s all based on having shared interests and the calculation of benefit that outweighs prejudices.
I have been tremendously heartened by these developments, and I could not possibly be prouder of the work I’ve been doing to strengthen these ties and make great things possible over there.
That’s really why I do this. And I oppose the forces that stand in the way—not only of peace, but against the strategic interests of America and her allies in the Middle East.
Speaking of enemies of this alliance, the big ones are Iran, Qatar and Turkey.

Only Qatar, though, has a vice-grip on the media and so-called “elite” opinion inside the Beltway.

Here’s what they’re doing:
Qatar understands that positive media in the US is an uphill battle: few Americans knows who they are, and their goals can be accomplished without a mass publicity campaign.

So what they do is concentrate their billions on destroying Israel’s new regional allies.
We saw this with Khashoggi and then Yemen securitystudies.org/jamal-khashogg… more recently with stories planted about the UEA.

As Qatar’s English media slams KSA/UAE for being backward human rights violators, it slams them for their “un-Islamic” liberal reforms.
Meanwhile, of course, Qatari media in Arabic is attacking KSA/Egypt/UAE for its closeness with Israel and the United States.

No surprise, of course, because Qatar is the world headquarters of Islamist, especially the Muslim Brotherhood.
Egypt under al-Sisi was the first country that was attacked by the Qatari PR machine in this country, and the fight is ongoing. Then came a campaign against the Saudis that picked up in earnest last year. It’s been relentless.
I’m not saying that anything critical of these countries is totally slanted propaganda—but so much is.

When, for example, stories about jailed “human rights protesters” in Cairo (who are actually Muslim Brotherhood agitators) don’t mention their affiliations or histories.
In those cases, someone is making a deliberate attempt to manipulate your feelings as a news consumer or a policymaker about the region.

The amazing stuff that’s happening with the Israel-Arab alliance is going under the radar because it conflicts with these peoples’ interests.
This development has lead to some truly fantastic things. Like this, for example:
