I was told today that there are not 63 million racist people in America because Trump support is more nuanced. Enjoy this thread
63 million is the number of votes he got in 2016. I'll give a pass to genuinely "economically anxious," true conservative Christians and greedy wealthy people as not racist...
But in 2019 after he has been exposed as someone whose tax policies were designed for the wealthy only a man who is as anti-Christ-like as possible then whoever REMAINS in his camp from that 63 million is either racist or considers racism a cost of doing business...
1964 - the last time the Dems held the South. Now it is almost a Red state monolith every 4 years after being a Dem monolith for 100 years. What happened in 1964? Civil Rights legislation passed by LBJ. Gave blacks rights, lost the entire south for 53 years and counting...
In 2016 America voted for a man who called Mexican rapists, had discriminated against black people in real estate, etc and would coincidentally call black nations derogatory names. But he hasn't yelled the N Word on camera so how can we say for sure he's racist...
And now we see that a purple-blue state with progressive leaders are full of black face wearing men. Like it was common. And those are "the good guys" - you don't think the party that supports a racist has worse in their past and in their hearts? Please...
And then we see at one party's convention yelling Blue Lives Matter rather than acknowledge the harm to black people historically and currently. We see them willing to (pretend to) protest their favorite sport because one Black QB decided to protest...
Trump is not a Christian (in spirit or faith), not effective, not smart, and not truthful or ethical. But he is still hateful. That is his most consistent quality. And that is the glue that holds his coalition together. Sure they may hate abortion or taxes but...
They are perfectly OK with racism being the fuel for whatever their one issue agenda is. I come from a mixed background and look fairly Caucasian to most. I have heard bigoted things in my family, at my jobs, among strangers and even on dates during my life...
Simply for psychological well being I've become good at not always judging people for moments of ignorance. But with Trump support at 3+ years that's not a moment of ignorance for many. It's a sustained belief in and/or acceptance of racism & hate. And yes it's tens of millions
