NEW: President Trump has named more members of his private clubs to top posts in his administration. Presidents traditionally hired friends and allies; Trump is the first modern president to award government jobs to his customers.

We've been watching President Trump's clubs for a while. We've also identified dozens of lobbyists, contractors and others who make their living influencing the government who were paying Trump to be members of his private clubs. usatoday.com/story/news/201…
Presidents often name campaign donors and close allies to administration posts, ... But never in modern history has a president awarded government posts to people who pay money to his own companies.

We started looking at the members of Trump's clubs in 2017. The rolls aren't public, so we gathered data from a website where golfers post their handicaps.

It was, as @DailyCaller said, a "convoluted KGB style back-door approach" to obtaining public information.

To be fair, the argument that President Trump doesn't know what he's talking about is one his administration has made repeatedly (and successfully) in federal court.

We're on the opposite side of one of those cases, so I suppose we're constrained to say that we disagree.
(It seems to me to be an unusual state of affairs when @usatoday is the one trying to persuade a court that the president should be presumed to know what he's talking about, and the Justice Department is saying he doesn't.)

18 U.S.C. § 875(d) makes it a federal crime to send an interstate communication with the extent to extort a thing of value from someone by threatening to injure his "property or reputation."

But the 8th Cir. has held that an apology can be a thing of value under the statute if the person demanding it wants it badly enough.

Mueller's office says the activities of Manafort's associates Konstantin Kilimnik go "very much to the heart of what the Special Counsel's Office is investigating." They're looking at at 2016 meeting between the two, and say Kilimnik had a relationship with Russian intelligence.
