If @AOC and her sycophants actually believed their own claims about CO2’s catastrophic effect on climate they wouldn’t want to ban non-CO2 Nuclear power (which you point out in the piece)
Plus it’s media matters, c’mon
@AOC: Worlds gonna end in just 12 years unless we shut down 90% of the world’s energy sources

Also @AOC: Let’s ban the best source of non-CO2 energy (Nuclear) while we do a communist takeover of the entire economy first

I’d think it would be criminal (needing actual predicate evidence) or nothing
What McCabe is alleging he did potentially is without precedence in US history

And extraordinary claims should require extraordinary evidence

*AFTER I’d personally signed a FISA warrant application to a secret court saying I’d VERIFIED Steele’s allegation that Trump was working for Russia for *years*. Yeah, then I thought it “might be possible” he was working for Russia. Credible guy
McCabe admitted under oath in Dec 2017 to Congress that the FISA warrant wouldn’t have been approved without Steele

So. Either:

1) McCabe believes Trump is a cultivated Russian asset & has been for years, with Cohen “paying off” DNC hackers

Or

2) he doesn’t believe Steele
Option 1 means he personally misled the FISA court by saying he’d verified those allegations

Option 2 means he personally misled the FISA court by using allegations he knew weren’t true just to get a warrant

This would be a good time to point out two things

1) Gang of 8 supposed to be briefed *quarterly*, so by Oct 2016 at the latest if opened in July 2016. McCabe/FBI waited until May 2017

2) Gang of 8 didn’t push back because they weren’t told the dossier was paid for by Clinton
3) McCabe didn’t tell them his lead agent on the case (STRZOK) and trusted legal advisor (PAGE) were concerned there was “no big there there” when it came to Trump/Russia

4) McCabe is trying to retrospectively justify the investigations he started w/out clear evidence of crimes
5) McCabe’s a liar so whatever he says is suspect and the Gang of 8 can’t contradict him as the briefings were classified

6) That McCabe fooled the Gang of 8 into believing there was something to “Collusion” doesn’t make it objectively right, or that he found it - spoiler: didnt

This is a ludicrous way to confront #ClimateChange. An organization like @foe_us that claims to treat #climate change as an existential crisis CANNOT be taken seriously while simultaneously counseling us to ignore virtually all low-carbon resources except wind & solar.
Proposition: Anyone who says climate change is a crisis & then says we should tie 1 (or 2) hands behind our backs by setting aside a raft of low-CO2 options, including virtually all crucial firm resources (see bit.ly/FirmLowCarbon) should be treated as non-serious & ignored.

@EricHolthaus Now let's talk about solutions. First of all, slow the bleeding. QUIT CLOSING #NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS. Oyster Creek shutting down is like taking a baseball bat to over 5 Ivanpah solar plants; it produced ~5400 GWh zero-GHG per year vs Ivanpah's 990 GWh.
@EricHolthaus The replacement power isn't coming from solar and wind, guys. It's coming from natural gas and coal. Solar and wind can't compete with the kind of reliable capacity factor Oyster Creek delivered 24/7.
@EricHolthaus #nuclear power stations that are "unprofitable" are largely so because of cheap natural gas + renewables forcing nuke operators to deal with negative electricity prices. atomicinsights.com/why-cant-exist… NG won't be cheap forever, but #climatechange will continue getting worse.

I was about to head offline for 2 weeks, but I need to respond to this new paper from @ppchef before I go on whether #nuclear can operate flexibly. By coincidence, I just had a peer-reviewed article on this very subject accepted by Applied Energy by today! So here's a thread...

I'm going to defer technical discussion of whether nuclear plants (old and new) can ramp or change output to match fluctuations in net demand and contribute to system reliability/flexibility until my paper is released (short answer: they certainly can if doing so is valuable)...

Six #nuclear reactors closed since 2013. By my count, up to 23 more reactors may retire w/o policy or market conditions improving: 21.6 GW = ~1/5th of US fleet, 4% of US #electricity--and crucially, 12% of emissions-free generation.
