Mainstream media is the problem. 3 lessons from this weekend: (1) If MSM sees details of a policy, it will tear it apart. But, if it does not see anything, it will take its supporter's word for what it does, even if it's impossible & otherwise absurd in the context of supporter.
MSM spent weekend focused on the most extreme aspects of Green New Deal or some side debate over talking points on a website. Seeing details should signal seriousness of the effort, but MSM gets bogged down in the negative interpretation or salaciousness of details.
Conversely, Republicans spent 8 years claiming to have a magical healthcare plan to replace ObamaCare. It would cut costs, raise coverage, and there would be a unicorn in every driveway. MSM was gullible Americans were shocked in 2017 when Republicans had no replacement to OCare.
(2) The mainstream media holds Democrats to higher standard than Republicans, because they know Republican leadership does not care about integrity or ethics. This asymmetric accountability is absurd and allows Republicans to become more extreme & cruel without a necessary check.
Just this weekend the President mocked genocide of Native Americans and Republicans youth leader praised Hitler's early work: nothing from MSM, because they know Republican leadership does not care. @RealCandaceO will suffer no backlash for praising Hitler. Seriously, Hitler!
MSM had extremely justifiable coverage of two very credible claims of sexual assault on the lieutenant governor of Virginia, but no one bothers to mention the 19+ credible claims against the Republican president. Because they know Republicans leaders just don't care.
(3) MSM still does not know how to report on President Trump: cannot help but drag the target of his lies or harassment into their coverage, giving him a win, and incentivizing more lies and harassment. Just saying he said racist stuff, w/o amplifying details, is not that hard.
