The woman wasn’t upset that a blanket and birthday balloons were set up on the sidewalk. That didn’t bother her. She was upset that a BLACK woman and her BLACK daughter were in a space that she felt they didn’t belong in. That is the REAL STORY.

We have to start calling a thing a thing. She is White, she is rich and she feels entitled to control that space and how dare this Black woman be on the sidewalk while she is trying to walk her dog! Anyone else would say how cute, and walk around. No big deal.
I JUST spoke about this yesterday. Now what can change this? That community of rich White people. They have this moment to decide who they are going to be -a neighborhood that dictates how Black people can navigate spaces or a neighborhood that is inclusive of all people.
That is the only way this changes. White people are going to have to do some of the HEAVY LIFTING. Period. Black people can’t keep carrying the load.
