Good call by Facebook removing Tommy Robinson's page for "posting material that uses dehumanizing language and calls for violence targeted at Muslims". Pretty wide language so I imagine we will see more of this newsroom.fb.com/news/2019/02/r…
There are free speech issues around taking down a page which will (though I haven't visited!) include legitimate political speech too. I hope Facebook generally are taking a proportionate approach to what it bans - "organised hate" and calls for violence are a good yard stick
When I say "good call", I am basing that on what I know of Yaxley Lennon's activities. I haven't seen any particular examples which Facebook used to justify the decision. I'm guessing it wasn't too difficult to find posts which could be defined as "organised hate"

This article is very good on the deep roots of antisemitism on the part of the left most identified with the Corbyn movement - very much from the perspective of the left. Recommended.
It is interesting and somewhat encouraging to see commentators from within the movement showing some measure of self-awareness and at least considering whether this is more serious than they had given credit for.

But...
... it is still along the lines of 'pockets of antisemitism' and 'a small minority of Labour supporters' and there isn't much/any consideration of (1) whether there may be something rotten deep in the ideology, and (2) the true impact of Corbyn's actions and lack of insight

I see left commentators doing threads and I want to feel appreciative, and somehow I don't, and wonder if I have become cynical. These things get said, but nothing seems to change.

@lucianaberger resigned - perhaps that broke a dam, or perhaps that means it's too late?
A sensible colleague pointed out to me today that I have done a succession of v difficult cases (traumatic content) and I wonder if I am reaching a point where my reserves of empathy are too depleted to think clearly on it. I kind of hope so, in a way, as I want to be optimistic
Anyway, it's something that Chris Williamson has been suspended. My fear is that there is still so long to go.

Which policies? How? When? By what standard?
This is the part that is terrifying.

Facebook has deemed Tommy Robinson a “hate figure” and says that “praise or support for these figures” is banned.

So - if I criticize Facebook’s ban of Tommy Robinson, am I “supporting” a hate figure?”

One of the first more successful/costly ads, from 2015. Posts promising "updates" (including one about the Charleston shooting) seem to perform better so far. Also notice targeting- Baltimore, Ferguson, and surrounding.

Just like with RT's cat and tsunami videos, this page was looking to draw people in before delivering more divisive content...
