/ For a long time, folks have asked why—under circumstances in which you might expect it'd happen—I don't "@" someone I'm speaking of. The reason is what happened recently with [@]ChrisCuomo and [@]RepJerryNadler: if you "@" them their mentions explode and they have to unfollow.
/ While I'm *enormously* grateful (more than I can say) that this feed, which has 600,000+ followers, receives engagements from readers at the level of a feed with 2.0M+ followers, one understandable result is that "@" posts completely blow up the feed of the party spoken about.
/ At some point I'm hoping to find a solution to this problem, as I'd like to tag (and communicate with) certain accounts when I think I can offer help—or, as commonly, when I want to express my appreciation for them—but it seems it's hard to do that without a negative response.
/ I once thought verified accounts had too many mentions daily to be "blown up" by an "@", but then I noticed that when that total nutjob [@]dbongino says anything to me my mentions and frankly my *whole feed* is overrun by his discourse for a half-day at least. That's annoying.
/ Anyway this brief thread will end here, but I mention this because sometimes if you don't "@" someone, people think you're being cowardly—hiding from accountability. Sometimes it's more that you don't want that person's feed to suddenly blow up in a way that bothers them. /end
