Now that we're talking about Rudy Giuliani pal Robert J. Costello, I'd note that he is the same NYC FBI/SDNY-connected Robert J. Costello referred to in this case (excerpt below), decided just a few months ago: Bergrin v. Kelner, 2018 NY Slip Op 51721 (law.justia.com/cases/new-york…).
1/ Given that Costello was Criminal Division chief at SDNY, it sounds like (if this pleading is true) he was drawing from his SDNY affiliation here. I wonder if he drew on his FBI pals in NYC in October '16 when Rudy Giuliani wanted info from them? Who knows—but I'd love to know.
2/ Here's Costello defending the appointment (as overseer of Trump cases in SDNY) a man who donated to Trump's campaign and was Giuliani's law partner, underscoring Costello's attitude toward the latter two men and conflicts of interest in their perimeter. talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/white-house…
