FYI for pastors who care about young men's discipleship:
Tucker Carlson's comment are completely consistent w/ the perspectives & categories being offered young men on parts of the manosphere.
As much as you may be concerned by the influence of Rachel Hollis, et al on the women of your church, you need to concern yourself w/ the influence of their male counterparts on the young men of your church.
It would be easy to think that the cultural counterpart to progressive women are progressive men, but imo, the more accurate counterpart are men promoting a kind of hypermasculinity.
The connection is not about progressivism or conservativism. It's about whether influencers enable or challenge the cultural sins that are unique to their male or female base.
When a male influencer enables distinctly masculine sins, it's going to look 180 degrees different from when a female influencer enables women in their sins.
Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. At root, men & women struggle w/ same things: pride, greed, lust, power, etc. But our embodied lives means we actualize these things differently. We sin differently.
So female influencers who enable & encourage women to perpetuate lives of "effortless perfection" are encouraging women in pride & one-up-manship in a distinctly feminine way.
Male influencers who enable & encourage men to live into their animal sexuality & baptize their raw power are encouraging men in their pride & one-up-manship in distinctly masculine way.
Same root issue will manifest itself in vastly differently way given gendered context. Don't be distracted by the fact that certain expressions may look conservative while others look progressive.
