So the govt motion is effectively "This House votes that if May's deal isn't passed by March 20th, Brexit is cancelled indefinitely."
So that, my Conservative activist friends, was what you canvassed houses, phoned around, stuffed envelopes & stood on the street greeting people for: so the govt could cancel Brexit if it cldn't get a deal through that gave away NI to the EU. Well done. I'm sure you're v proud.
When you were a student, O Conservative friends, & went to those meetings & said you demanded the UK's position in the EU be reformed, what you *really* meant was "Vote Conservative, so we can cancel the largest democratic vote for anything, ever."
When you gave money to the Conservative Party, for years and decades, what you were really seeking to do was bring about a govt that wld set up a referendum on EU membership, try to keep us in, then when that failed overturn the result of the referendum. Amirite?
When you quizzed PPC candidates at selection meetings, & you asked what their position was on the EU, the thing you'd been hoping to hear, that wld really swing it for you, was "I'm so fanatically pro-EU that I'd seek to overturn the UK's largest vote ever, to stay in." Yes?
Because, to be quite straightfwd, if the above wasn't you, then from tomorrow, assuming the govt goes through with its motion and whips in favour of it, you'll be in the wrong party.
