Final presentation from a fantastic conference is Nicole Fernandez — 7 skills I wish I knew before working as a UX researcher
#dr19
When you do your research education you learn:

Methodology
Design process
Statistics
Clear, straight-forward projects
You start feeling prepared, get into your first job, and you start getting ambiguous projects with no clear deadlines and they don't really know why you're doing research
You start realising there's more you need to do in this job than JUST research
When you start getting pushback you begin to other people and stereotype.
Tip 1. Treat your stakeholders like users
Tip 2. ABCs always be collaborating
Tip 3. Aim for the quick wins to show value.

They'll trust you more and be able to push back to make space for the bigger projects.
Tip 4. Show! Don't tell

People have likely been in meetings all day so talking at your stakeholders about a research report can be detrimental.
Tip 5. Communicate Design

Don't just serve bulky unreadable reports!
Tip 6. Avoid Perfection

Usually there's a good enough point, where going the 100% isn't really worth it.
Tip 7. Technical breadth, not depth

Mix up your methodology
Mix up your reporting methods
Show them the whole breadth of what UX Research has to offer.
Change up Qual and Quant
All 7 steps!
