So, using a "voice of reason" on climate means I'm "fucking up" the future of kids.

You can scare kids with climate horror stories, and you're great.
But you're spreading "insidious, creeping conspiracy BS" when pointing out the UN's Climate Panel seriously disagrees
Remember, the UN Climate Panel estimates the net impact of uninterrupted climate change by the end of the century to be equivalent to an income loss of 2-4% of GDP

Remember also that the UN Climate Panel estimated that the economic impacts of climate would be "small" compared to most other impacts from changes in "population, age, income, technology, relative prices, lifestyle, regulation, governance" etc.

Even with worst-case sea level rise, max population, lowest GDP

Adaptation means just 1m flooded per year in 2100

Of course, anyone can scare you and tell you "oh my god, sea level rise could flood 300 million people each year"

But any sane person knows that we'll adapt, and actually reduce flooding from 3m/yr to just 1m/year

And of course, we should reduce flooding (and all other challenges) by avoiding the poorest of worlds and achieve the richest of worlds (where flooding is close to zero)

This company has not begun #ClinicalTrials. As my institution's #cancer center head very accurately said, "History is littered with claims made on the basis of test tube-based or animal studies that had absolutely no transferability into human disease" (2)
#Cancer is not 1 disease. It's not 50 diseases. "Cancer" is a umbrella term we give to an unknown number of different diseases, because they have common characteristics. Yet this man says "We believe we will offer in a year's time a complete cure for cancer" (3)
