This morning, the world learned that 49 Muslims were slaughtered and dozens more injured in a terrorist attack during Jumu’ah prayer.

My heart grieves for the Muslim community. All of us must stand together to be the shield that protects our Muslim friends and family. 1/3
We must put our prayers into practice, to speak up and fight anti-Muslim bigotry, white supremacy, hatred and injustice in all of its iterations, wherever it is found. 2/3
Comfortable silence and complacent inaction lead to tragedies like the attack on the Al Noor and Linwood mosques. Bold action, active love & steadfast truth will prevent the seed of hate from once again bearing its deadly fruit.

White supremacy and Islamophobia will not win. 3/3

From transportation to foster care to environmental protections, bipartisan support paved a way to make lives better in Republican & Democratic strongholds. We held our ideological beliefs, of course, but we understood that we all lived here. Together. 2/
And with one horrible exception, Georgia didn’t jeopardize stability, opportunity and leadership for dangerous legislation that treats the lives of women as political pawns. 3/

Businesses decide to locate employees where they will feel safe and free to make the best decisions. #HB481 takes Georgia in the wrong direction. Bodily autonomy is a baseline issue - and those who want Georgia’s economy to grow must speak up for 1/2 of the workforce. #gapol
The film industry relies on the willingness of companies to associate with GA, of actors to film here and of crew to locate here. Unlike the other film hubs like California, New York and Toronto, GA alone has been asked to grapple with a veritable ban on abortion access. 2/
This is not a distinction without difference. We are the 8th largest state, top 2 for films and on a national stage. Why risk women refusing to film here or reputational harm because GA is viewed as intolerant, sexist and mean? #HB481 is as dangerous to the economy as RFRA. 3/

In the fight for progress and economic equality, we must always support reproductive justice. We must continue to fight to protect and expand access to affordable reproductive health services for all, and we must oppose any effort to move us backward. 2/ #gapol
Access to repro health services has allowed women across the U.S. to pursue higher ed, enter and stay in the workforce and provide for their families. Every woman—regardless of income, race or region—deserves the right to control their own body and forge a path for themselves. 3/

Every election, I have hope. I hope that as advised by Ashfaqullah Khan, Indian #Muslims will rise above Pan-Islam. As citizens, our causes are same- Roads, education, health, national security, political corruption. I can understand, not being satisfied and asking more.
If someone is obviously working, you want him to work more, it is understandable. Asking @narendramodi to work more on National security, on healthcare, on education is fine. But to use perpetual victimhood to support an eternal non-performer is absurd.
Earlier stupid Rakhtpat story was built by @INCIndia Kharge to make Muslims vote on insecurity. Nothing happened in last five years, except bloated stories of random crimes. Even areas which saw riots under Akhilesh’s SP rule were peaceful.

1/ Yesterday, I attended a forum hosted for the #Muslim community by some of its biggest and most developed organizations (@emgageactionmi, @MIMuslimCouncil, @APIAVoteMI).

AND I WAS THE ONLY DEMOCRAT WHO SHOWED UP.
2/ In the week of the travel ban, and the week where @ocasio2018 obliterated a 20-year incumbent by listening to & speaking with communities of color, you’d think establishment Dems like @gretchenwhitmer would have learned a lesson. IGNORE COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AT YOUR OWN PERIL.
3/ I know for a fact that @gretchenwhitmer showed up for a Muslim community fundraiser a few weeks ago. But she didn’t show up to hear the community’s concerns and share her perspective at a forum hosted for us by Muslim leaders.

Don’t take the money if you don’t want the vote.
