Trans & Non-Binary Fam:

I've had some cis folks ask me "What can I do to help trans folks?" over the last week or so. Rather than cis me give advice on trans issues, I'd like to ask you all what advice you'd give them.

What would you suggest cis folks can do to help?

Could you all add any links to research or anything useful that think cis folks should read? For example: Things that you get asked a lot, that you have to keep repeating over and over.
Had a few inquiries from trans folks a little reluctant to post what they feel is "self promotional" content. PLEASE POST ANYTHING YOU LIKE. Anything you create that may help educate us cis folks. Please post links. Thanks all 😘

Ok. Terfs are going to claim it's their right to wave their transphobic horse shit banners because "lesbian erasure". WRONG.

Picture this:
1) Terf Lesbians waving banners "Get the B out!" cuz Bisexuals give lesbians a bad rep!!

2) Gay men waving banners "Get the B out!" cuz Bisexuals give lesbians a bad rep!!

3) Bisexuals waving banners "Get the B out!" cuz we ALL erase their identities pretty fucking often.
There's no chance in hell that this shit gets allowed during OUR PRIDE because its a load of bullshit!! So if this shit doesn't fly, why the hell should we allow terfs to pull this crap on our trans siblings??? The answer is WE DO NOT ALLOW IT.

1/ It's Friday. I've seen another tweet this morning from a cis woman who claims she's scared of trans women and that they should "cut their dicks off".

There's too many cis people who have no idea what it means to be trans. People like this one, honestly they infuriate me.
2/ It isn't hard to read up on trans issues. It isn't hard to talk to trans people and get to know them. If you take the time to do this, you'll find out everything you need to know if you actually listen to them when they speak.
3/ I'm going to try and educate some cis folks here, with a few things I've learned from my trans friends.

First: USA based trans friends. I've learned that they pay for all of their transition surgeries. This means that they have work and save money for every step.

There’s a lot of bigot vitriol surrounding how we “identify”.

When I say we, I mean members of the LGBTQ community.

1/
When I say bigot, they’re usually white cishet middle class bigots who’ve got nothing better to do with their time than hate on people who are different from them.

2/
They usually have the same talking points that they focus on.
Things like “You’re all perverts and pedophiles” or “You’re all sex offenders & rapists” or “You’re all unsafe around NORMAL people & kids” or “You’re mentally ill” or “You’re sinners” or “You’re grooming kids.”

Over the last week, protests have erupted across #Sudan, with NISS intelligence service stations being burnt and reports of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) defending protestors in some locations. This is a developing thread for remotely monitoring the situation, h/t @trevorsnapp.
In Atbara, for example, protesters have set fire to the headquarters of ruling the National Congress Party, led by President Omar al-Bashir. There's plenty of visual evidence of the unrest, such as this video. Geolocation: 17.694190, 34.001319 (google.com/maps/place/17%…).

Probably the most infuriating aspect of debating anything relating #trans issues is not actually the virulent, anti-trans people -- it's the people who are under the delusion that 'both sides' are somehow right and aren't listening to each other.
Like legitimately, I would much rather face someone telling me I'm a secret rapist than someone telling me that my biggest problem in life is that I'm not genuinely listening to the arguments of the person saying I'm a secret rapist.
And I saw *exactly* the same types of arguments when I was campaigning for marriage equality in the States. Nice, smiley 'liberal' people in the middle who thought I just wasn't listening well enough to the people screaming, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF MARRIAGE" in my face.

It is *not* a "total reversal" of his beliefs for *all* #Trans ppl. Your selective reading of the page is very telling and is representative of the mentality & intentions common among Trans "activists/allies." Altho this case and perhaps your own perspective are not nearly the1/x
most egregious, they are still problematic. Anyone reading your tweets would likely believe that Hakeem does not believe in psychotherapy for *any* #Trans ppl, which is clearly not the case. It is like those who ignore that @BlanchardPhD & @profjmb are among the strongest 2/x
advocates of #Trans ppl, including supporting their desire for SRS--in adulthood. In short, you/others frame the narrative in such a self-serving and selective/biased/distorted manner. For instance, 1) there is still *no* evidence that being "Trans" is "normal" in any way, 3/x
