I posted this a couple days ago. It’s an interesting social Rorschach test.

Most people are offended by both MAGA kids. Some think John Podesta is a lizard person. And some think there’s nothing wrong with standing in a red hat. That last group, to me, is a problem.
And it’s not that that group is just low information (stupid). They can google an article and explain, in excruciatingly pedantic detail, that no explicitly racist act occurred in either confrontation. “Smirk police!” “Smilecrime!” “SJWs are attacking children!”
But here’s the thing...When a bunch of boys from a school with a documented history of prejudice and misogyny choose to wear hats that have become symbols of prejudice and misogyny, that act – that choice – is a provocation.

And they know it.
When a kid walks into a vigil for Muslim victims of white nationalist terrorism wearing a symbol of white nationalism, that act – that choice – is a provocation.

And he knows it.
We’re in a golden age of provocation. It’s easier than ever to do it. The President insults dead war heroes. Logan Paul films a suicide victim for his YouTube channel. Teenagers in Orange County do this: haaretz.com/us-news/nazi-s…
Everyone’s pushing, trying to see where the line is. Smirking, thinking they’re safe, because they’re not actually *doing* anything. It’s just a tweet. They’re just being ironic. Meta. Standing in a hat.

No. It’s a corrosive problem. And I don’t have a fix except to call it out.
Especially smirking white dudes in red MAGA hats.
