THREAD: OKAY, Y'ALL HERE'S WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON @TheNorthStar. This information is coming from me directly from people who have closely worked with the project who won't speak publicly until a few things come out. But I saw receipts and here it goes.

First off, @TheNorthStar wasn't @shaunking's idea.

It was @BenjaminPDixon, the original co-founder's.

How do I know? He once pitched it to @Blavity and several others before he eventually asked for Shaun King to be a part of it.

I have spoken to others who can confirm.

Second, last month, @ShaunKing got on Slack and messaged writers that @BenjaminPDixon, the co-founder, was no longer a part of @TheNorthStar.

Shortly after, King fired nearly everybody working in their Atlanta office.

Just today, Phillip Agnew (@philofddreams) who was a senior writer for @TheNorthStar has resigned.

Several former writers have told me that the publication is a total disaster. Many prominent Black activists who planned to participate have also pulled out.

At this point, @ShaunKing should tell y'all why he let go of @BenjaminPDixon from @TheNorthStar. But he most likely won't -- or why he let go of all those Black writers in Atlanta.

Expect for the full truth to come out very soon. It's going down.
