And Kenney has started. He's talking equalization, by the sounds of it. He's in Red Deer today - first this, then a UCP rally. #ableg
Kenney is comparing Alberta and Quebec incomes, tying them to equalization. Again slams the BC government. #ableg
Hey! Trudeau-Notley alliance! DRINK. (Dammit I should be live-tweeting this from a patio.) #ableg
Kenney says Alberta has always been generous but now "we're under assault" from the rest of Canada and Ottawa. That's why there is a movement to independence, he says. #ableg
Most Albertans are proud Canadians, he says, but we will no longer tolerate governments in other parts of Canada benefit from our hard work, Kenney says. #ableg
Kenney says just replacing the NDP and Trudeau "isn't enough." He says when Ottawa says in Canada's economic interests, it's code for Ontario and Quebec interests. He's quoting from a professor. #ableg
Kenney again promises the equalization referendum. (To remind you, he admitted yesterday a referendum wouldn't actually do anything except make Ottawa talk to us about equalization). #ableg
To promises! Kenney says a UCP gvt would use an =n referendum to push the pipeline fight, and for a fair new formula. Says Trudeau extended this current, unfair formula (which was written by the Harper gvt when Kenney was in cabinet) #ableg
2) We will fight for fairness in the fiscal financial stabilization fund, Kenney says. It was capped at $60/person, despite the fact we lost $10b thanks to the oil price crash. #ableg
3) Convert social and health transfers from cash to tax point transfers, Kenney says, so feds would drop its tax rates and provinces would raise their amounts. "This would be revenue neutral," he says. (My note: Unclear how this would happen via provincial gvt.) #ableg
4) A UCP gvt would take aim at payroll tax hikes, Kenney says. 5) He would also fight for fairness in EI (again, this is a federal program... interested to know how he intends to make changes as a province, says only "we would demand" the change) #ableg
6) UCP gvt would challenge the feds' "unfair, one-size-fits-all policy" on stress tests for mortgages #ableg
7) A corridors policy - a fed/prov agreement on resource corridors that would be agreed upon to "expedite the approvals for resource projects." Kenney says First Nations would be consulted beforehand, & UCP has already started seeking support with other provinces on this. #ableg
8) Kenney says UCP would press for a charter of economic rights that would essentially open borders to more and better trade. (This has been a goal of... oh man... every government of all four provinces I've lived in). #ableg
9) Kenney says a UCP government would create an Alberta parole board, just like Ontario and Quebec has. A UCP gvt would end agreements with the parole board of Canada, he says. #ableg
Kenney says some might be critical that this plan is too much, too big, but says "Now is not the time to be timid." #ableg
The support for separation is more now than any time in Alberta history, Kenney says. And that's because we don't get a fair deal (basically). Now to questions - but of course the UCP cuts off the live stream because that's their thing. #ableg
Let me be clear here - Kenney is not a separatist. He calls himself a federalist, and says he doesn't want to separate. His point was that there is a growing separatist sentiment in Alberta which he blames on the "Trudeau-Notley alliance" not getting enough for Alberta. #ableg
