My job is pretty great. Case in point: I now have a selfie with a 50-year-old burger that lives in the #ableg library, on said burger’s birthday. Later there will be cake.
Everyone’s wearing party hats. “Say cheeseburger!” #ableg
So many balloons for the resin-encased hamburger’s 50th birthday!! If you’ve never seen the burger, I highly recommend a trip to the #ableg library, where it lives in a cabinet to the delight of many (well.... to the delight of me).
There are around 30 people here so far for the burger’s birthday. The event is sold out, but they’re not going to turn anyone away. I mean... that would be cruel. First there will be tours of the #ableg building, featuring food-themed stories about the building’s history.
And then there will be burger-shaped cake. Potentially a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. Because OF COURSE.

As an aside, it never crossed my mind that I’d be at the 50th birthday party for an #ableg hamburger. Life is great.
Guys. GUYS. The #ableg burger’s 50th birthday cake has arrived. I can’t even deal with this phenomenal cake. LOOK AT THE CAKE.

I should add that I will have a story up soon about this #ableg celebration. You know.... once I finish basking in the glow of the burger and burger cake.
The #ableg birthday burger tour group has returned and they’re all still wearing party hats. I cannot express just how much joy that brings me.
A group of random tourists just wandered into the Federal Building with no idea the burger birthday party was happening. Priceless. But they’re pretty stoked because they will get cake.
It happened. Everyone sung Happy Birthday to the #ableg burger.
My dudes, this is the best story of the #ableg election.

I have some words to say regarding a lowered wage for people under the age of 18. I have real life experience and some pretty harsh opinions on why this isn't a good idea and why this isn't a fair idea.

Point #1. I was on my own paying rent, utilities, food, clothing & transportation when I was 16. My rent, utilities, food, clothing and transportation was NOT at reduced cost because of my age so why should my wage have been reduced because of my age?
Unless we don't care about putting vulnerable people in poverty and holding them there? Unless we don't care about all people in society and if they have the ability to meet their basic needs?

I was a kid/teenager who was pulled out of sex ed for religious reasons. #ableg #ucp

I didn't know it was illegal for a 25 yr old to be "dating" my 15 yr old friend.

I didn't know it was illegal for my 16/17 yr old friend to be "dating" a youth pastor.

2/? I didn't know someone could withdraw sexual consent.

I didn't know one could get birth control from a dr w/o parental consent.

I didn't know you could access an abortion w/o parental consent.

I can go on.
3/? These "parental rights" for sex ed mean that young people aren't taught proper consent, medical access, personal rights, any of it.

It is a form of parental control over their childrens' lives - and then assumes remaining "pure" is more important than understanding abuse.
