The challenges we face today are the outcome of skewed priorities. Profit first. Profit only. Pushing people and technology into squeezing efficiencies regardless of need our side effects. Short-term gains over sustainable practices. Thinking for over thinking through. 1/
Education systems, governance structures, work practices, ... everything focused on "smart" solutions for quick returns and for "speed & scale" which most of us talk about but hardly understand. Why scale? What to scale? The 'HOW' traps us into believing that it's progress. 2/
How come even 'best practices' aren't working? What has changed? @salimismail says technologies are growing exponentially, and redefining today's reality. He's right. The future is hurtling at us carrying the debris of humankind's historical ways of thinking. 3/
The next wave is about a different kind of thinking. Sure, all kinds of sprints are already in place. (Sprints are about speed, right) There's @Google_Ventures #DesignThinking @ExOSprintBook and several others in the works. But thinking is a mindset (sic.) first. 4/
Knowledge often creates the illusion of understanding. Understanding the methods and tools (HOW) comes a distant second to the purpose (WHY). Turns out that most problems we're grappling with today are left overs of yesterday's solutions. Do we need the opposite of sprints? 5/
Knowledge can be transferred using methods and tools. Mindsets are a different matter. Explicit can be structured, tacit not. Try transferring wisdom.

The trick is no longer converging to a solution, it's in exploring the problem space more deeply. Exponential or not. 6/
You can almost “hear” leaders—or those who have been in leadership positions in the past—start building and rehearsing their solutions while you’re still trying to understand the problem. Higher salaries and more years of experience have a way of blunting your eyes and ears. 7/
