2/ India context— Reuse is seen everywhere. Repair and recycle continues to be the norm. "Wasting" is a foreign sensibility and throwing away things doesn't come naturally. The feel-good of keeping old stuff is deeply embedded in the collective consciousness.
3/ Design drives all change in terms of materials, processes of manufacture, fashion, trends... actually they're deeply intertwined and highly interdependent. Responsible design values come before economic compulsions at individual, company, industry and societal levels.
4/ The foreseeable future makes design leadership key to business growth and survival. #IntegralDesign (currently being modelled with global collaborators) is one possible compass to navigate the choppy future. medium.com/integral-desig…
5/ Recommend this be seen against the backdrop of #exponentialTechnologies since design is being seen as THE driver of #socialchange. Also the world is primarily digital for all practical purposes. #ArtificialIntelligence is double-edged: #designintech can keep it reined in.
6/ This can be driven quicker, farther and deeper into the business psyche especially now, when design has come front and centre into boardrooms via the #designthinking wave currently sweeping businesses and Government institutions.
7/ We need to kick off and embrace a global design paradigm based on reversing the throw-away mentality of America's economic-driven consumerism. Sustainable consumption should come first.
