One thing is missing in this brilliant speleological analysis of #Brexit: the important Neolithic flint mining industry that had its HQ in Grime's Graves in Norfolk. These underlie an area of some 37 haha (91 acres) with at least 433 shafts dug into chalk to reach seams of flint.
Grime's Graves are near the Great Rees Bogg, a place famous for its 'top hats'. These black cylindrical headgear items extend above the cerebral cortex & are filled with rabbits to protect the skull during underground 'jumping up & down' dances of rage in the 'passages of time'.
The legendary analysis of #Brexit thought that is manifest in @rolandmcs' speleological thinking stands in sharp contrast with the merely historical insight he displayed in this earlier account of currents of thought & policy in the #Brexit campaign:
In that analysis, @rolandmcs identifies an exceptional insight of Dominic Cummings' #Brexit proposals which may have contributed a great deal to the success that it had & the calamitous failure it may now produce: 'that no clue is better than a bad clue':
That is in fact the #Brexit shell game in a nutcase:

Contrary to popular opinion that rabbit-filled protective headgear was sometimes grey. Here is a remarkable image of a 'top hat' which some believe did protect a singular cerebral cortex through several very dark passages of time during the early years of the 20th century:
That historic 'top hat' is a bit moth-eaten but otherwise in good condition. By good fortune it has never been worn in any of #Brexit's 'dances of rage' in the passages & tunnels below the Grimes Graves HQ of our Neolithic flint mining industry.

There is a massive irony in this whole question. #Brexit was seen as a way to 'free' a 'subject' UK from the #EU. But #Article50 recognizes that each member state of the EU is an independent state with a sovereign right to decide in its own constitutional way to leave the EU.

We have reached the end of the road with this Tory disaster, this quantum of #Brexit created & destroyed by & for Tories, a Frankenstein Brexit which now should tear to pieces the party that made it. Schrödinger's Brexitstein Monster, the movie. But what should @UKLabour do now?
First, it is really important for all of us in every party to know what Brexiters & #TheresaMay hoped we never would know: we were able to trigger this #Brexit attempt to become independent because by the terms of the TEU we were in fact independent & free to use #Article50.
As @joannaccherry has insisted in Parliament (something also said almost in passing by Kenneth Clarke), we can #RevokeArticle50 now to avert a disastrous #NoDealBrexit. That doesn't have to be the end of Brexiter hopes. It gives us the time that we need to reflect & rethink.

It is a historical fact, as @Jonathan_K_Cook points out, that in 1975 much of the world broke ranks with the United States and Europe at the United Nations general assembly to declare that Zionism, #Israel’s founding ideology, "is a form of racism and racial discrimination”.
Why? "To the global south, the great purges of native Palestinians carried out by European Jews in 1948 & 1967 looked all too reminiscent of white Europeans cleansing indigenous peoples in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa." (@Jonathan_K_Cook)
That resolution (3379) didn't last long, as @Jonathan_K_Cook explains: after 16 years & a lot of diplomatic arm-twisting by Washington, including promises that Israel would engage in a peace process with the Palestinians, it was finally scrapped in 1991. Everything changed.

Thought I'd offer a few thoughts as to how this whole #brexit business is so bitterly divisive to the extent that foreign diplomats liken the divisions as being akin to that preceding civil war
For one thing there simply is no middle ground any soft #brexit means losing any say over the rules we still have to obey maybots duff deal was an attempt at compromise and was blown away as a worse version of the status quo.
#brexit also tears up the democratic social contract for both sides. Any democracy relies on all parties accepting the result of a vote but any campaign must also be conducted within the law

One thing leavers were right about is that it's a lot easier to give power away than it is to get back. Having done so without consent we now see that we gave away more than our politicians realised. That's why they're not trusted and that's why compromise is impossible.

2. They tried to fob us off by telling us that no further powers would be given away but every piece of legislation passed by the EU is on some level an erosion of national sovereignty. All of it happening off the radar - adopting laws through statutory instrument.
3. That's why nobody believed Cameron when he said we could opt out of ever closer union. Nobody can make that claim. It's in the DNA of the EU and if you are a member then that is what you are subscribed to. Voters may influence the pace, but not the destination.
