Journalism professors wanting to examine why trust in the profession has collapsed - deservedly so - should just show this article: by someone claming his unhinged conspiracy about Trump being groomed since 1987 as a Soviet asset has been *vindicated* nymag.com/intelligencer/…

There is & has long been a mountain of evidence negating the Putin-controls-Trump conspiracy theory: continuous acts by Trump against the Kremlin's most vital interests. That Chait can write an article claiming vindication without even *addressing* this shows the state of media:
What Chait & NY Magazine are doing is not just embarrassing but hugely damaging to the ability of journalism to function - just as was true of Maddow & MSNBC. Journalists are supposed to hold *all powerful factions* accountable: that includes media outlets. But they often refuse.
Due to careerism and/or rank-closing common to many professions, as well as a sense among journalists that Anything Goes in the face of the Trump Threat - even making up lies & conspiracy theories - many journalists refuse to call out this dishonesty, so the damage continues:
