Great scoop from ⁦@jimwaterson⁩ on who is running these Facebook accounts hiding behind Tim Dawson and Theodora Dickerson.

So Old Lynton Crosby, who made a loan to Johnson, is running this particular dark campaign.

They seem to be making money theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Companies House Docs for CTF Partners Limited indicate healthy operating profits and payments to shareholders.

So who is paying them for this work, I wonder.?

Who is behind Johnson and Davis (also receiving the benefit of trips paid by the company).
Buzz Feed, earlier today, reminded us that the @CommonsCMS has opened an inquiry into the true funding behind these ads that target individual MPs.

Is it my imagination or did I see somewhere that Chloe Westley (previously Sharland, from Companies House Records) worked with Lyndon Crosby at one stage (@StillDelvingH ?)
This thread really REALLY makes a great point.

One that I had not fully pulled together, although - as you will know - it has been lurking there in my mind for a year or so.

The COORDINATION behind the FB advertising and why transparency matters.

I would add another point.

IF CTF are using staff members or ex staff members to “front” the placing of these ads in their personal capacity that would rather demonstrate a deliberate intention to hide what they are doing.

Why would they need to do that?
Here is @jimwaterson ‘s thread that makes other points I had not thought about.

The use of “soft” Brexit messages...eg about heritage sites to open the door to a focussed campaign.

Well worth your time.

And a reminder from @StillDelvingH about links between Linton Crosby and SCL and Facebook data to support Targetted psychological information campaigns.
A renminder from @shady_inf0 about Crosby’s links to the Australian Fossil Fuel industry.

1 day later the ICO is launching an investigation into who is really behind the ads...and what data is collected when people click on links. 4/4/2019

With regard to @shady_inf0 thread about Crosby and the Australian Fossil Fuel Industry, the Company that commissioned him, Glencore, has been cropping up rather a lot in the Trump, Russia story, with @WendySiegelman having done some interesting threads

Maybe this is another link
“In another blow for the Australian lobbyists, Facebook is also considering whether the activities of Crosby’s employees meet the definition of “coordinated inauthentic behaviour”,”
“a term that has been used by the social networking company to justify the removal of Russian and Iranian disinformation campaigns from their site.”
“The social network defines coordinated inauthentic behaviour as when “groups of pages or people work together to mislead others about who they are or what they’re doing”, a broad definition that appears to apply to the activities of Mainstream Network and Britain’s Future.”
“When we take down one of these networks it’s because of their deceptive behaviour, it’s not because of the content they’re sharing,” said...Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy, in a video posted last year, explaining how the social network approaches such matters.”
