"I have been into sciences for as long as I can remember.I took math, chemistry and physics. It was not always easy, and I didn't always have the best grades (really I didn't) but these are topics I love and that truly spin me into a state of curiosity."

"The school I wanted to get into was Princeton and it sort of felt attainable. I got advice from parents, friends, teachers and friends, who told me to broaden my horizons. I applied to 5 schools in total, and Stanford, was me just shooting my shot."

"I started the application process in August. It ended up becoming more stressful as the deadline approached and I was still tweaking with essays. I had to complete my application while I was in the USA for the US Tour and that made it more complicated due to the lack of time."

"December was also hectic as I filled applications for 4 more universities. I was very anxious at the end of it all because I constantly had self doubt, particularly in my college essays."

"Imagine this one day, you wake up to all the decision of three of the universities you applied to 3 months prior. You open each letter one after the other and they read: "Unfortunately.....it is with great sadness that... " And "we are sorry to inform you that...."

"The rest of the day is just gloomy because you can't shake off the thoughts that you're worthless, unwanted and a failure. You almost sob yourself to sleep at the thought of you're dream school not wanting to do anything with you."

" the next morning, you're reminded by an email notification that you still have one university you're waiting for. You open it and the letter on the screen is saying " Congratulations..." The happiness I felt was out of this world"

" To the other students I will say: Apply to your safety schools but don't be afraid to dream because as the saying goes you miss a100% of the shots you don't take. I never expected to get into Stanford in the first place but I shoot my shot"

" I also think you're more likely to get into a university like Stanford of you ARE YOURSELF.
There is honestly no image that could describe a Stanford student.
