1/5 A short thread on the marked difference in branding success of two newly launched political parties:
• Brexit Party (very successful)
• Change UK (absolutely woeful)
2/5 Brexit Party. Top Google results:
• News about the party
• Google summary box for the party
• Party website
• Videos about the party
• Party Twitter account
3/5 Change UK. Top results:
• Misc news stories, some about the party, some about e.g climate change
• A hospitality recruitment firm
Change.org petition site Twitter feed
...
• What time do the clocks change in the UK?
4/5 Brexit Party branding:
• Name: crystal clear meaning. Immediate appeal. Will attract support even from people who know nothing about the party.
• Colour: turquoise (incidentally, this was the smart colour choice for any new party, as shown here )
5/5 Change UK branding:
• Name: extremely vague. Already being confused by its own members with change.org. Nothing Remainy, so low-information Remainers could easily miss it.
• Colour: 🤷🏼‍♂️ does anyone know?
