#LoveLettersToAlberta This is from the heart to #Alberta, not a journalist, so it's kinda sloppy. I'm disabled so I have lots of time to research. I'm white (an accident of birth, so I'm not special) and 6th generation Canadian. 1
Dear Alberta, 350,000 families in #Ontario whose breadwinner lost their well-paying jobs in manufacturing know how you feel with the energy business going through rough times. Hubby was a victim. 2
Some jobs went to the USA to states where they have "Right To Work for Peanuts". Some went to little brown people who aren't immigrants. The jobs went to their country. 3
Blame The Hoarders who want all the money in the world. (They need an Intervention). "The 400 richest Americans, the top 0.00025%, have tripled their share of the nation’s wealth since the early 1980s." washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2019… … 4
Some people tie their self worth to their job. They think their community standing, their position in the family is undermined without a job. Resist that. You have worth as a human being. 5
I understand that the jobs still in the Oil Patch are now going to techies, to those with university degrees in the business. So if you're not working, maybe you could update your skills and not listen to the hate-merchants. 6
Across Canada Bad People want us to hate each other, to hate this religion, that colour, another province. How can we solve anything if we won't work together. Racism, sexism, xenophobia. Whom does that serve? Not us. The 1% Hoarders thrive when we hate & fight each other. 7
They want to take advantage of us in our time of re-adjustment in this topsy-turvy time. Some tell you to hate to get elected, and some do it because IF THE HOARDERS CAN MAKE US FIGHT EACH OTHER, WE WON'T HAVE TIME TO PLAN WHAT WE WANT AND HOW TO GET IT. 8
Racism kills. In Calgary a 9 year-old Syrian girl killed herself because she was bullied at scool. Kids learn this behaviour from their parents. globalnews.ca/news/5163138/c… 9
We need to get zillionaires to pay their damn #taxes. We need new local homegrown jobs, re-training. Yes, we even need Green Jobs. Can you transfer your expertise & skills? 10
WE DON'T WANT YOU TO LEAVE. (What ditz pushed that one?) Canada needs your ideas, your energy (no pun intended), your work ethic. 11
Instead of hating each other & blaming "The Other" let's see what we can do to make that happen, working together. Neither the Liberals nor the Conservatives will do it. Corporations have taken over the old Parties. 12
Lord knows if the Greens and/or NDP could fix it either. We have to try, to demand better, and to be effective we must do it together. Albertans and all provinces need to get our act together, not splinter into ghettos of hate. 13
We CAN do that. Just stop listening to politicians & business leaders who want to keep us apart. They are NOT on our side. Think back, who is pushing the hate, the racism, the idea that white people are somehow best? 14
Lastly, a moment about what makes an economy grow or not. Again, you are taught by some politicians that public servants are bad.
They say too much "gubmint" is bad. GOVERNMENT IS ONLY BAD FOR THE RICH. The Hoarders don't want Regulations. We need them for our safety. 15
FORGET SPENDING CUTS. BEWARE politicians who say we have to cut government spending. Why? Austerity (Cuts) has never "worked" to grow the economy, ever. You decide whether this makes sense. Here's why: >>> 16
Why? Every gov't service & program cut means lost jobs. A job lost is a person & family who CAN'T spend into the economy. You know this if you've lost your jobs. Thousands of jobs go bye-bye and businesses suffer..
Small businesses hurt when gov't jobs are cut, because their customers can't buy their service or goods. Private jobs are lost. That just slows & shrinks the economy & lowers tax revenue. Rinse & repeat. 18
Household debt is killing us because households have to pay it back: gov't doesn't. Gov't (public) debt is Investment for those who loan money (Invest) to Canada. 19
Our national public debt is like gold to investors and they don't really want it paid back unless we lose our great Credit Rating; they just want the Interest cheques to keep coming. 20
So no, your children won't have to pay it all back. Gov't can pay some back in good times. We've had public (gov't) debt forever, since the dawn of Canada. Demanding no #deficits is like saying you're paying cash for your house. 21
In Ontario, Doug Ford didn't have a plan. He got people to hate Premier Kathleen Wynne & people who didn't see the trap voted for him.....but only 23% of all eligible voters. 42% didn't bother to vote - the biggest "voter" block was the No Shows 22
Jason Kenney & Doug Ford say they finish each others' sentences, so
before you vote, please read up on what Premier Doug Ford has done and is doing, cutting teachers & support (Special Needs) staff and leaving #Healthcare under-funded. I wish you get the gov't you deserve. 23
