Starting tonight, we will see a lot of new people having a lot of questions and gut reactions about the idea of universal basic income. Please help direct them to answers using my UBI FAQ by either linking to it or the urls it links to.

Among the most frequently asked questions of all among those first hearing about universal basic income is the concern that prices will rise. This goes into that question in-depth & even includes applicable evidence from the Alaska dividend.

Another one of the most asked questions about universal basic income is if too many people will stop working if they no longer are forced to work to live. I wrote this article to answer that question and about the question itself.

I've got an entire thread pinned to help people find and share evidence to apply to questions about universal basic income. Please use it by sharing the thread or the individual tweets to help inform people of how people behave when provided UBI in RL.

Is $12,000 enough is another question I see asked quite often, mostly among liberals and progressives. Well, I have a $1,000/month basic income and I can assure you that having a poverty floor is something you truly don't understand until you too have it.

There are so many questions to ask about universal basic income and that's a great thing. We need discussion. I encourage everyone to look past partisan labels and engage each other in an open and honest manner. Automation is real. We need real solutions.

Our problem is not automation. Our problem is that we aren't properly leveraging automation as a tool to improve all of society. Don't just think of UBI as a means of preventing disaster. Consider just how much new innovation it can unleash.

If your biggest concern about basic income is its price tag, consider just how expensive the lack of UBI is. Child poverty alone costs us over $1 TRILLION per year. Add up all the costs that UBI will reduce, and it's like asking if vaccines cost too much.

Not only does UBI cost less than continuing to pay for everything that's a result of a lack of UBI, but UBI itself does not have the price tag most people think it does. Because everyone pays for UBI and everyone receives UBI, your cost is the difference.

When it comes to @AndrewYang's proposal to fund a $1,000/mo UBI with a 10% VAT, not all of that will be passed on to the consumer, but what is passed on will be far less than the amount of UBI for most people, with the top progressively paying more for everyone's new consumption.
When it comes to @AndrewYang's Freedom Dividend, it's also imperative to understand just how many people are falling straight through our conditional safety nets into severe poverty (which is rising, not falling). No one should fall below $1,000/mo. Ever.

Universal basic income is not left or right. It's forward. Tonight on CNN, you have the opportunity to listen to someone who believes it's time to start coming together as Americans to confront our real problems, and work toward their real solutions.
