And it's the local elections in two weeks that could be so bad for the Tories that Theresa May is forced out right there.
That's the first of the six extinction events that we were talking about.

And a month after that it's the Euro elections, the ones the Tories never wanted and that can only be an embarrassment to them.
The Tories don't even know whether to fight them. Or how. And yet the result will be there for all to see.
And that's the second extinction event.

And then the third extinction event is a month after that, when the confidence and supply agreement with the DUP expires. And it doesn't look like the Tories will get a renewal.
So they stumble into summer recess having lost two elections, and their working majority

And then the fourth extinction event hits them in September when they have to pass another Queen's speech, having lost the support of the DUP and having no hope of any new alliances.

And even when they come back after party conference season, they get the fifth extinction event when the current Brexit extension expires and they're forced to agree another. Extensions and indecision.

And the sixth event is in December when Theresa May gets a leadership challenge, and the Tories find themselves with a new leader, no majority, still no Brexit policy and all public support vanishing by the day.

And those are the programmed events that are going to hit the Tories over the next few months.
And then the break up of the country. And maybe that doesn't matter. Maybe the United Kingdom is at the end of its natural life.

If the Tories care about anything, they care about the union, and at the moment they are pursuing exactly the policy guaranteed to destroy it.
