Tinder moved to #Kubernetes and @EnvoyProxy, is averaging appx 50 containers, 15 pods per node. Interesting for a few reasons from my perspective
#1/ Bigger nodes running many containers is not so rare. At @signalfx we are seeing this more and more in the field. Is it too early to say that #Mainframe is making a comeback? #MillenialMainframe #GenerationM
#2/ "One reason we were able to move so quickly was due to the rich metrics we were able to easily integrate"
Seeing this everywhere. You can't fly a #jetplane without instruments and you can't run advanced #infrastructure without great #observability and #metrics
#3/ The biggest/most expensive boxes used for #metrics . m5.4xlarge instances for #prometheus metrics while c5.4xlarge for workloads

This visibility doesn't come for #free! Understand the tradeoffs between #DIY vs #SaaS

No matter what or when, leaving an area gives opposition opportunity to potentially regroup... This is true.

To bend to this argument would mean PERMANENT occupation.

Think about it.
There does come a point when the folks of a region need to become responsible and accountable to themselves.
We cannot continually hold everyone's hand.
I must say the liberal left has tied themselves into knots on this issue proving its not about issues currently, it's about opposing Trump.
They didn't want the troops there in first place... Calling for immediate withdrawal... Until Trump announced the withdrawal that is. 🙄

What knowledge do firms need to survive? In this paper we use data on the work history of all formal workers in Brazil to measure the industry-specific, occupation-specific, & location-specific knowledge that workers bring into new firms: pnas.org/content/115/50… (thread 1/)
We measure these three knowledge channels by looking at workers that switched jobs, focusing on changes among related and unrelated industries, occupations, and locations. 2/
For instance, a worker moving between related industries (banking & insurance) should carry more industry-specific knowledge than a worker moving between two unrelated industries (e.g. banking and soybean farming) 3/

So Taito's 1987 game Darius is interesting for a few reasons, but one of them is the unique aspect ratio it uses: It's a 12:3 (or 4:1) display!
The native resolution of the game is 864x224.
But the part I'm interested in and isn't really talked about much is how they did that
So you can't just make a weird rectangular CRT.
And it's 1987, LCDs are not an option.
You could maybe do it with projectors, but they're hot, expensive, and finicky.
So it instead uses the "obvious" solution: It doesn't have A screen, it has three screens.
There's three 4:3 CRTs providing a combined 12:3 picture. And I thought that was all it did, but I didn't really think about it deeply.

You know what's really interesting? Though all the right wingers push the narrative of 'infestation', it's interesting that it seems predominantly white folks have lined up outside the WH to take him down.
Of course, there are practical reasons and safety concerns as to why those of other ethnic backgrounds might be dissuaded from standing up alongside them - please, don't read it as if I'm passing any judgement at all upon them...
This is merely an observation that those amongst whom he would otherwise pick for membership in his Club America if he saw them on the street seem to be the ones rejecting him. And that is interesting for a few reasons...
