Today I’ll be sharing pictures from Christ’s final moments. Locations and relics that still exist to this day in Jerusalem and in Rome. ⁣
If you think your followers would appreciate the imagery, please share this account. I have found that seeing and visiting these places and relics really makes the Gospel readings come alive.
First up, the Upper Rome (Jerusalem) and a relic of the cedar wood from the table of the Last Supper (St. John Lateran, Rome).
Here is the Garden of Gethsemane (Jerusalem) and the Rock of Agony (Jerusalem), where Christ wept blood.
This is the pit where Christ spent the night before being crucified. Located in the house of Caiaphas (Jerusalem). That hole is where His body would have been lowered into this dungeon / prison cell.
The Scala Santa. These are the stairs Christ climbed before and after the scourging. He walked down once more to begin the Way of the Cross.

(pre and post restoration)
The Scourging Pillar, now at Santa Prassede in Rome. Scourging was often a death sentence. They didn’t want Christ to die, they wanted Him to suffer. So they avoided beating Him around the heart so He wouldn’t have a heart attack. We know this because of the Shroud.
Notice the scarring on the marble and imagine what the Scourging would do to flesh.
A tree similar to the one where they took the thorns for the Crown of Thorns (Jerusalem).⁣

And the reliquary holding two thorns from that Crown of Thorns (Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, Rome).
The Titulus.

The title that hung above the Cross.

Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, Rome
A nail from the crucifixion. ⁣

But that’s no nail, that’s a spike. Look at the size. Remember, this needed to go through a grown man’s wrist or feet, then into wood, and support all that weight. ⁣

Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, Rome
Golgotha. Calvary Hill. Where the Cross stood. Where Christ took His final breath. Located inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

And a relic of the True Cross. Located at Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, Rome.
The earth shook and rocks were split.

Just below the site of crucifixion – Holy Sepulcher, Jerusalem
The stone of the anointing.
The burial cloth. Better known as the Shroud of Turin. Rarely on display.
A first century tomb just behind Christ’s tomb.
