Meet @RightOrLeft32, a Twitter account bearing tidings that shortly, God will replace all human governments with his own government. Also, meet its identical friends, and may we be forgiven for suspecting automation rather than the divine is at work here.

We checked for Twitter accounts with names matching the pattern RightOrLeftXX and bios matching @RightOrLeft32's. We found 12; three created back in March 2019, the remaining nine on 4/25. All are automated via IFTTT, and the majority use the same profile image.

Although the twelve bots appear religiously themed at first glance, they link a mix of news sites, Reddit, and Amazon far more regularly than they post material of a theological bent. The Reddit links are largely to news-related discussions. What's up with Amazon?

Evidently, the path to replacing human forms of government with God's own government involves selling lots of luggage (a relief for those living in fear of the apocalypse.) Also strollers and other things- thus far, the bots have linked Amazon 471 times in their digital lives.

A new day arrives, and we can add computer hardware to the list of items hawked by this botnet. We can also add @SorryForMySins to the set of bots. Looking closer at the Amazon URLs these accounts link, they all contain "happyvoice927." What's up with that?

A bit of googling indicates that an entity going by @happyvoice927 (once had a Twitter account by that name, now deleted) has been pushing Amazon links via religiously-themed social media accounts for years. At least one Twitter botnet preceded the one documented in this thread.

Although @happyvoice927 is no longer live, replies to/mentions of the account still show up in Twitter search. Of 218 accounts with still-visible interactions with @happyvoice927, 26 (11.9%) appear to be automated themselves.

These 26 accounts look like miscellaneous marketing bots that use a variety of automation tools and promote a variety of products and services; they are unlikely to all be operated by the same entity. (Also, naughty naughty @kozlovlarion193 automating the web client!)

Odd footnote: the first four tweets in this thread each have five replies that aren't (or aren't any longer) visible. Protected accounts? Deleted tweets? Not sure, but making a note of it as it's a bit odd.
