.@nytimes reports Trump committed to designate the Brotherhood after hearing from the Egyptian President. How many times have we seen Trump gullibly do—or try to do—something brash, reckless, & dangerous at the urging of a foreign counterpart?

How could we forget when Putin convinced Trump to agree to a joint cyber working group? His advisors later convinced him it was a stupid and dangerous idea. reuters.com/article/us-usa…
Of course, that didn’t stop Trump from reviving the idea after he met Putin in Helsinki a year later. politico.com/story/2018/07/…
Hard to forget when Trump shocked his own State Department and Pentagon by backing the blockade of Qatar—home to more than 10,000 US troops—after meeting with its chief backers, the Saudis and Emiratis. google.com/amp/s/amp.theg…
Or when Erdogan assured Trump that his Turkish forces could take care of ISIS (and of our Kurdish partners, too), and Trump claimed he was immediately withdrawing all US troops from Syria. google.com/amp/s/www.wash…
Or, just last week, when Trump again shocked his own advisors and our closest allies by backing a Libyan warlord seeking to topple the UN-backed government in Tripoli after speaking to the warlord’s Egyptian and Emirati allies. nymag.com/intelligencer/…
The message the world over is clear: Get Trump alone on the phone or in a room and it’s carte blanche, America’s interests be damned.
