I wish journalists would stop asking whether Barr’s lies are criminal. That’s never been the standard for judging the character or conduct of public officials. It proves little, but does allow Trump and allies to tout their propaganda downplaying wrongdoing more loudly & proudly. 
@ErinBurnett @RepCharlieCrist @OutFrontCNN Reporters also apply this criminal standard unevenly. Every new Trump low is met w/, "But is it a crime?" Yet even after Hillary Clinton's emails conduct was not criminal, journalists never let it go, calling her dishonest. Playing right into Trump & Putin's propaganda assault.
@ErinBurnett @RepCharlieCrist @OutFrontCNN The result is, the more bad conduct, the less condemnation it receives. And conversely, the less bad conduct, the more attention it gets. Bad actors and propagandists exploit this man-bites-dog imbalance. They deluge us, we become inured. While the occasional bad is a huge story.
