"War footing".

It is only the most vacuous politicians, with the most deep-set hostility towards democracy, who want and need emergency powers to act, because they have no legitimacy without a crisis.

See for yourself.

Miliband is more worried about what 'future generations' will think of him than he is about what people currently think of him.

It is a grotesque self-deception -- a delusion he expects us to share.

If we don't share it, he slanders us, and calls us 'deniers'.
He represents the absolute worst of UK politics.

Ed Miliband rose without trace.

He was appointed. He has no understanding of democratic politics.

For him politics is just geeks in policy units, thinking about 'global challenges'.

It's not about ordinary people and ordinary needs.
His is a peculiar, seemingly 'progressive' version of the paternalism and chauvinism of the old right.

That is the Labour aristocracy for you.

It is utterly degenerate. But it thinks of itself as wholly virtuous.
It's like Blair, bombing countries into democracy, because he thought of himself as a nice guy, committed to doing 'the right thing to do'.

Those are such politicians' only parameters. No self-examination. And no test of the ideas. No criticism. And no debate. It's pathological.
Here is a debate between Miliband and Lawson from a decade ago.

Miliband has never been able to cope with debate.
This has always been how Ed Miliband has engaged with criticism. For him, politics is just reading a script to a camera.
Ed Miliband is nothing but a serious of extremely poor judgements.
Miliband thought he could champion 'responsible capitalism'.
He then tried to recycle 19th Century Tory slogans as his own.
I am struggling to not put it more strongly. But when I say climate change is the politics of absolute nonentities, with zero connection to the voter, it's not an insult. It is a description -- a fact. Climate change is a crisis of ciphers, projected onto the sky.
It's not just the Labour Party.
It's the Tories, too.
Those three men epitomise the desperate struggling of bland politicians to account for their positions.

They struggled to explain their vision. But they believed they were the right men for the job, nonetheless.
Then, as now @Ed_Miliband wants a "war footing" because he has no other way of connecting with the public without fear-mongering allusions to a Nazi invasion. He cannot manufacture legitimacy for his agenda. He has zero moral authority.
He's a Walter Mitty, who expects us to engage in his fantasies.
Show me a strong leader, with moral authority and an agenda that enjoys popular support, who is also a 'climate champion'.

They. Do. Not. Exist.

There is a connection.
