Been meaning to pick up this bad boy for years.
Been 20 years since I was sat in my bedroom, stoned off my tits, and episode 11 came on late night TV. It genuinely changed my life.
For one hour, it made the case against certainty. Emotional, passionate but relentlessly rational. It was the best thing you could have shown 16-year-old me. I'm terribly grateful it came on when it did
This is the ending of that episode. It's one of the finest few minutes of telly the BBC ever broadcast

Asking a politician about their record or their views is not 'gotcha' questioning. It is political journalism.
Maybe it doesn't work on their supporters. Maybe it works on some of them. Maybe it should be combined with a more emotional response on the sense of identity they appeal to.
Fine. But don't suggest we give up on it. Highlighting the views, statements and intentions of those who seek election is the basis democracy operates on.

Is there anyone in the Tory party who isn't running for the leadership?
Did a list the other day trying to work out which way they were likely to break on Brexit if they were leader. Most would end up in same position as May: Unwilling to go softer, unable to do no-deal, stuck in same position.
Only Rory Stewart and Amber Rudd would go for Soft Brexit I think, and even then very uncertain.

This is the dank hypocrisy at the heat of the Brexit party. They claim to stand for democracy, but their entire approach undermines democracy.
What will the Brexit party do if elected? We don't know, because they won't tell us. What are their policies? We don't know. How can we assess their performance if elected? We can't. There is no basis there to exercise individual judgement.

What is it?

Freestyle Love Supreme is an improv hip-hop comedy troupe started by Lin, Anthony Veneziale and Tommy Kail. It has had a long life playing clubs and comedy festivals all around the world and spawned a TV show in 2014.
How do I find it? The TV series is available for streaming if you have a Seeso subscription and can be purchased from iTunes/Amazon if you have US accounts.

Alright folks, time to deep dive into the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven.

Its gonna be a long one, so if this doesn't interest you, just mute this thread now.
Before I get into it, a little backstory:

Some of you may have seen this movie before. Its not on cable often, so it's probably been years. It was released in 2005, right when the Iraq war was going all to hell.

The allegory between the Crusades and the Iraq war weren't subtle.
The thing about this movie is that a lot of people felt it was just okay-to-good.

They felt that way because what was released in theaters was so heavily chopped up by the studio the character motivations made little to no sense.

The director's cut fixes all of that and more.

I was kind of feeling like a sinner today, so after dinner I came to the Berkeley Zoning Board, where we’re about to watch a fight over whether a gas station two blocks from BART should be converted to 23 units of housing and a cafe.

Repentance is a bitch. Forgive me lord.
And the building is already smaller with less windows, on account of windows and homes are problematic to people in the neighborhood who have competing windows and homes. What if we build too many windows and the market crashes?!? Darkness!!!!
Also it’s going to have two, 5/6 bedroom co-living spaces for people in their 20s and 30s who like that sort of thing.

First board member comment: How does this avoid becoming run down tenement housing in 200 years?

-Everything you do matters
