Reminds me of something Richard Sennett once critiqued Jane Jacobs for. She thought ppl loved eyes on the city street. He pointed out a lot of ppl move to cities precisely to escape prying village eyes, and get some privacy for their "deviant" lifestyles.
I love community as much as the next person. But I'm extremely here for an eco-socialist city whose public dwellings have thick walls and black-out blinds

Here's my problem with @washingtonpost's attack on @AOC's GND proposal: WashPo's core claims have no basis in evidence. Let's just look at a couple, w a focus on carbon pricing, and some implications

1a. There is baseline claim that market mechanisms are the best known way to efficiently reduce pollution: "Pollution pricing is not untested theory. It is the policy that ended acid rain, ahead of schedule and more cheaply than projected." It's a common myth, so let's go slow
1b. Is it true? No. Cap and trade was important to the reduction of sulfur dioxide in emissions in US. But guess what. AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, Europe achieved the same goal using "command and control" regulations ec.europa.eu/environment/ar…

good morning from a special session of the police civilian review board. the meeting is being recorded by both the city and the people’s coalition, so hopefully the city won’t misunderstand a newspaper article and have a public meltdown this time!
it isn’t being broadcast, just recorded. if they really wanted to understand the work of this board, they could always try coming to a meeting but what do i know?

significant presence of both media and cops here in the basement conference room at city hall. the city staff member who usually attends these meetings (but was on vacation last week during the meeting the city got so worked up about) is here.

Seema Misra is in court with Jo Hamilton. Seema was sent to prison whilst pregnant in 2010. She is a former Subpostmaster at West Byfleet. Jo has a conviction for false accounting from her time as Subpostmaster at South Warnborough.

This was a really weird thing to read as I'm literally standing in Tijuana at the legal port of entry where migrants are being illegally denied access to asylum
The sun is rising in Tijuana. A man is here with his two kids. They have waited for weeks on the illegal asylum list, and their number should--finally--be called today. It is not a wall which has kept them from patiently waiting out their legal rights--only cruelty and corruption
They woke up this morning in a tent inside a migrant shelter. They are desperately hoping to be sleeping in an ICE detention facility tonight. They have endured for thousands of miles in difficult conditions with the *hope* of being locked up at our border.

The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether
