1. Contrary to tweets suggesting Nehru sent a warship to Portsmouth to honour Edwina, it seems INS Trishul, recently commissioned at Belfast, happened to be in the UK before sailing to India. The Trishul laid a marigold wreath during her burial at sea.

1. As we obsess with the Pak F-16 we shot down and/or the damage done in Balakot, its time for a reality check. Look at this pic - its a Chinese J-11 D prototype fitted with an Active Electronically Scanned Array radar. Why should we be worried? Read on ...
2. India's Su-30MKI and the J-11 are based on the old Russian Sukhoi-27, but while China has aced upgrading its variants, India's Su-30MKI is essentially obsolete in comparison. Thats right, new build Su-30s being churned out at HAL are now obsolete as they enter service.
3. The Chinese J-11D has a home-grown Active Electronically Scanned Array radar, a generation ahead of the NIIP NOIIM Bars the Su-30MKI operates, and likely has a newer and better line-up of air to air missiles with longer ranges than the R-77 the IAF uses.

3. Abhi was shot down about a minute later. This is where the parachutes landed. The Pak chute is red. The IAF one is blue.

1. In a briefing lasting more than an hour, senior IAF officers briefed journalists on why they insist Wing Commander Abhinandan shot down an F-16. I was there.
2. We were showcased radar tracks from IAF Phalcon aircraft. There were 2 frames we were shown. 1 had symbology of Abhi's MiG, close to a Pak F-16.
3. In the next frame, just 8 seconds later on the timeline, the track (symbol) depicting the F-16 is missing. The IAF says it was shot down.

I was told the same thing to which I say that I understand and ask them for the way into the HC. "So you're going?" to which I respond in affirmative. They ask my name, take down my car number and clear the way.

From cruise missiles to laser-guided bombs, antiship missiles to smart weapons & modern radars and avionic systems, a new aircraft designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) promises a lot. The plane, for which design work is complete, doubles as a fighter trainer.
The IAF has not made any demand for it. HAL CMD R Madhavan recently said HAL no longer waits for IAF’s requirements. "We're confident of doing R&D and offering a product. We're even looking at markets outside,” he said.
