Good morning. Still in pain though I slept better last night by doubling all my OTC meds before bed. My partner wants me to go to the doctor & I just laughed because what doctor is going to give a black woman a prescription for pain meds in this opioid crisis era?
If I sought medical help right now it would be from an urgent care clinic. I can’t even get an appointment with my primary care person for 6 weeks. This is with pretty good insurance from a research one university that has a whole hospital/medical system associated with it.
I know how doctors see me when I talk about my chronic pain. Why bother? #MedicalRacism #ChronicPain

Let’s talk about the difference between #SexStrike & #StopFuckingShittyMen. Sex strike proposes that all women stop having sex (with men its implied I think, no clue if queer women are supposed to stop fucking each other here) in order to punish men or raise awareness.
As some have already noted, this perpetuates the idea that sex is the only bargaining chip women have & that sex is the only reason men will listen to us. I’m not on board at all. But folks may think that the Sex Strike is no different than my recent proposal.
#StopFuckingShittyMen is about centering women’s sexual needs (don’t fuck men who don’t care about your pleasure or who make you feel bad about your body) as well as refusing to participate in sex with men who don’t deserve our time, attention or bodies.

To give you a sense of my mood right now. I just got an email about the first of two bachelorette parties for my friends who are getting married and I text my partner “This is why gay marriage should be illegal. Two bachelorette parties is so expensive” 😂
I really like this couple but the question is: Do I like THEIR friends this much?

Spoiler alert: I don’t like most people. Most people suck.
Is it rude for me to ask if these people are all white and/or straight women?

Ok, tweeting from urgent care. Arrived at 11:02am. They told me it’s an hour wait. I see five people ahead of me in the waiting room. Let’s see how long this takes. And how it goes once I see a doctor.
20 min in. I didn’t bring a book, which is my bad. But I probably wouldn’t be able to concentrate with Who Wants to Be A Millionaire blaring on the TV above my head. I honestly didn’t know this show was still on the air.

For those who are learning about what are now several dozen allegations against Sherman Alexie--all of which are 100% credible--go to my TL &/or search for his name on Twitter. Others are sharing their stories, too.

Here's what I've learned since last night:
In multiple instances, he explicitly threatened to end women's careers if they told anyone he had sexually harassed them.

Also, it seems that Native writers were targeted w/ the most force.
He's powerful in the literary world and powerful in the Native world.

The women who, by chance, reside at the intersection of both seemed to be prey for him.

The women are in no way to blame. NOT AT ALL.

Doctors are no longer a driving part of the #OpioidHysteria. They never really were. Why why why are we still getting these stories instead of what’s really going on? Alt facts much? How very Trumpian. News media needs to take a good look in the mirror & start facing the truth.
