My thoughts about Georgia’s anti-choice heartbeat law.
1) It doesn’t go into effect until 2020, so please amplify that for GA residents who need to make healthcare decisions before then.
2) I don’t live in Georgia. So it’s not my place to call for a boycott.

3) My job as an advocate (I hate “ally”) is to amplify the voices of those folks on the ground, doing the work, who will be most impacted by GA’s anti-choice heartbeat bill. Not to call for a boycott that will hurt GA residents most of all.

To put a fine point on it, when you boycott and try to keep funds out of a state, the folks who are hurt first and most by decreased resources are those who are barely making ends meet. Those are ALSO the folks least able to afford options with respect to healthcare choices.
