The idea that Kamala Harris, a prosecutor from the Bay Area, was ever somehow the most obvious natural fit for Southern black voters was always so reductive and stupid, especially when she's running against the closest confidant and partner of the first black president
Obama initially wasn't a "natural fit" for these voters either, but he was a community organizer, fluent in the vernacular of the black church, and had Michelle. Let's just say that Kamala's spouse, Douglas C. Emhoff, doesn't provide the same kind of political resources
Furthermore, Kamala has consistently polled better among whites than nonwhites
