The agreement President Trump refuses to sign was drafted by officials from France, New Zealand & tech companies. Social media is crucial to fighting hate because these platforms are key in spreading the hate that fuels far-right violence. splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
President Trump made light of the threat of white supremacy after the deadly violence in Charlottesville. Recently, he even doubled down on his claim that the white nationalists who attended the 2017 Unite the Right rally were “very fine people.” splcenter.org/20180119/ameri…
President Trump made light of it again after a gunman shot and killed 50 during an attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, dismissing white supremacy as “a small group of people.” splcenter.org/news/2019/05/0…
He’s wrong. We counted a 50% increase in the number of white nationalist groups operating in the US in 2018. And, they’re increasingly violent.
2018 was the deadliest year on record for far-right violence. At least 40 people in the U.S. and Canada were killed by individuals who were either motivated by or attracted to far-right ideologies.

White supremacy is a growing and violent threat. splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
But there is a silver lining: we can fight hate, even if the White House won't. By joining with other organizations, we’re working asking social media companies to adopt and implement policies to curb hate on their platforms. @changeterms changetheterms.org
