adopting a non-transient motel inspection program. @MiguelArias_D3 leads Presentation PowerPoint. Epicenter for human Trafficking and Drug Trade. Significant safety violations. Generates Police calls for service but little Tourist Trade. TOT revenue is generated. Default for
very poor now. Hope to improve management including Common security along Motel Drive. Also convert old motels to permanent affordable housing Could be emergency housing too. Sale by Owner or Sale by City (receivership) to create affordable housing. Next steps is to create plan
and then to Planning Commission and City Council for approval. Need to turn these motels into affordable and safe housing. Some residential neighborhoods have had prostitution pushed into their neighborhoods. Need to rectify that problem. @Esmeralda_Soria lack of affordable
housing is a serious problem. Unveil a proposal to get resources to build new affordable housing. @D7Esparza agrees with others comments. Living conditions are often atrocious. Need to fix but also not displace current residents. @GarryBredefeld commends his Councilmembers on
this positive effort. Asks regarding inspection process? A: Code Enforcement will run this. Cost of inspection will Be Developed by staff over the next few months says Arias. Lots of social problems and it is a complicated issue. Bredefeld will Be in favor.@kieltls thanks Council

Request for City partnership in development and filing of a $4.9 million dollar Prop 68 Parks Grant Application, and a $400,000 Cal Fire Grant Application. @District5Chavez calls up Jose Barraza of SEFCEDA speaks. There is 49 acres available in SE Fresno for primarily soccer.
US National Park donated the acreage 12 years ago. Would like City of Fresno to partner in building this park. Been working on agreement with City since February 2018. 1945 hours have been donated by volunteers so far to clean the property. @District5Chavez has been very helpful
along with @LincolnSeward Supervisor Magsig. Sunnyside High’s Principal Tim Liles and Valerie Davis. A Wellness Trail will be built along with the soccer fields. Arias asks about soccer fields location. Four fields plus four Futsal Courts. Community Garden will remain. Future
phases could provide shower and locker facilities as well as community center. Prop 68 $4.9 million and Cal-Fire Grant of $400,000 (mainly to plant trees). Possibly ask Park Development Fees to help pay for initial environmental and design costs. Waive City fees. Peach widening.
Have City help review joint grant applications/administering. Maintenance of park will be annually $420,000. Possible revenue generating sources are soccer tournaments. Prop 68 application is due August 5,2019. It also requires a partnership agreement. Future funding opportunity
is likely too. Ask City to be partner for prop 68 grant and possibly waive fees for initial environmental permits. This is a Workshop so No Public Comments will be taken. @District5Chavez thanks Me Barraza and Gabriel Lozano. Chavez says City is discussing insurance for Park.
Chavez asks about timeline. August 5 Is grant deadline. Arias: is supportive. Would like auditors to discuss this and other projects that may use Prop 68. Assistant City Manager Jim Schaad says tight deadline with August 5 especially with other Park items voted on earlier today.
@Esmeralda_Soria is supportive. Capacity to submit more grant applications may be an issue. Fresno needs to get its fair share of Park dollars. Thanks public for its continued support. Schaad cautions that we need capacity to execute the grants too. Arias suggests we add that
capacity in the Budget hearings next month. End of council meeting. June 13 will be hearing for West Area Specific Plan initiation. @threadreaderapp unroll
